How to make a pencil roll from a placemat. Quick and easy!
Today I made our older kids pencil rolls to take on our travels. You make them out of placemats so most of the work is already done for you - perfect busy Mama craft activity!
You need to figure out how much space each pencil needs and be sure not to make it too high so that when your pencils are shorter they don't disappear.
I was able to just push my pins up and then follow the ridges on the placemat to get nice even spacing for the sewing. Easy!
In case you haven't had the pleasure of using Lyra pencils I must tell you they are the longest lasting pencil ever! Our big kids use them until they are toddler size and then our youngest gets them - they literally last years! We tried Lyras in the skinnier (normal) size as well, but found the leads broke like in other pencils, whereas these super sized ones are incredible!
